Good morning. I’m Dr. Branyon with New Hope Unlimited. Welcome to my Saturday morning, and to my small little kitchen. But I’m going to show you what can come out of it really simple and easy.
It’s Saturday. I have lots of work to do this morning. I’m not going to go into the clinic. I’ve got paperwork and just lots of research to do. So it’s going to be a full day. And I will tell you, my stomach sometimes rules my head. If I get hungry, I sometimes eat more than what I can even see. And that’s not a good thing. But what I was doing this morning, I decided, well, I’m going to go in and make me a good, healthy cancer prevention snack. Our patients are always wanting to know what can they do on a cancer diet for snacks. Well, this one is simple, easy, not expensive. And I’m going to try to explain to you what it is.
It’s simple. Yogurt, Blueberries, and Walnuts. But I want to explain why it’s so important and good for cancer and cancer prevention.
First of all, I wanted to talk about the yogurt. Yogurt, as we all know, it’s all over the internet, the news, anything you want to talk about. It’s all about the good bacteria in our guts. And it is true, we have good bacteria and bad bacteria. Now, sometimes the bad bacteria is not healthy. And all of this war goes on. People get gas and all these other problems. And when all that is happening, guess what? It is pulling the immune system down because the studies have proven that what is in our gut can keep us very healthy, or let us get sick.
For instance, they have actually, the new studies nowadays are talking about what’s in our gut can actually help cause cancers, brain cancers, all kinds of cancers, all kinds of health issues. So it’s very important to keep our guts happy. Yogurt is a great way. Probiotics. Just be sure you’re looking at your label and making sure you’re getting one that your money is paying good pay for. Because sometimes there’s so many fillers, it’s not a good thing. But you want to use yogurt, and you want to use organic. Anything I say if I forget to say the word organic, please put … organic in there, because that’s very important too. Real organic yogurt sometimes is not real good. It’s kind of got that sour butter milky taste to it. And with that, you can add a little stevia to give it the taste that you want to. So yogurt, I’m going to not talk quite so much on yogurt, because most people know about yogurt. It’s important, good organic, no sugar. But add that stevia.
What I do want to talk about is blueberries. Blueberries have so many studies behind them that are so helpful for cancer prevention, and cancer patients. What I use.. oh my puppy dog’s down here saying it’s time to eat for me too, so we’re gonna try to get through this without having to stop 😉
But this is what I use, if you can see it real quick. It’s organic blueberries. And on the back of the label, you always want to see where it’s from and if there’s any other ingredients. With this, it is “product and packed in Canada”. That’s important. Blueberries have cancer-fighting compounds that are enormous. They’ve got (sometimes I botch some of these words, so forgive me for that) anthocyanosides, resveratrol, powerful antioxidants. They have things that are great for a scavenger activity and they stimulate and have stimulation effects of the phase to detoxification enzymes. They reduce cell proliferation and inflammation, which is very, very important for cancer. They have azelaic acid in them. That is a huge cancer fighter. So eat all the blueberries you can.
Now the other thing I have in here is walnuts. Walnuts are a great nut. Not just because it’s a great fat, but it’s great for cancer. These are organic, I’ve gotten them from Sprouts. If you’ve got Sprouts. Anywhere you can get organic walnuts are fine. But nuts are very important. It’s great. It’s a good bet. But walnuts, let’s just talk real quick about the walnuts. They have what they call it that Ellagitannins. (I’m going to spell it real quick for you. If I can remember how to spell it E-L-L-A-G-I-T-A-N-N-I-N-S, you can look that up.) See it’s real — it’s real great for cancer. But the real good thing about that is it reduces gene expressions that can lead to cancer.
Now, let me tell you, I’m not making this up, you can get on the website called American Institute for Cancer Research. And you can see everything that I’m telling you is facts. You can look and research any studies. There are so many studies on just these three products that are huge for cancer patients to get to know.
Now I have, I don’t know if you can see, I put my blueberries in, I broke up my walnuts to make it a little more go a little more further for me. It gives you that crunch. The one thing I wanted to say about the blueberries —go wild with blueberries. You can make smoothies, you can put them in anything or eat them by themselves. But right now we are out of season for fresh blueberries. That’s why I’m having to use the frozen. But during the season of blueberries, buy up what you can, wash them real good —organic too now, if you can, possibly. Wash them up good, dry them, throw them in the freezer, and then take them out as you need them. Great way. But I put it all together. Now I’m going to stir real good and take this a little further down so I don’t mess it up. And it makes a beautiful color. If you like purple, which I do, then I’ve got this right here. It’s like ice cream and all that… I’d give you some but you have to fix your own. Believe it or not, depending on how much stevia you use, you can make it as sweet tasting as you want to. And stevia is an alternative to table sugar. Table sugar is not good. And remember stevia is great for diabetics, cancer patients. Be sure to read your label though, because so many companies are getting on the bandwagon. And they want to make the money too. I hate to say it but marketing is sometimes terrible. So Sweetly is my favorite brand. You won’t find any fillers, no other chemicals, that sort of thing. Well, I enjoyed it, and I’m going to enjoy it even more. I hope this helps you to know that there is options to Cheetos, candy bars and things like that. Thanks for joining me, and I’ll see you again hopefully. Come back and be with me again. Thank you!
