August 1, 2019 has been chosen to be the World Lung Cancer Day. First of all, let me say to all those who are burdened with this diagnosis, I do understand what you are going through. You really aren’t alone even though sometimes you may feel as if you do not know which way to turn. Although it may be hard, each day try to find some joy and laughter. It is amazing what that can do to help the immune system work better. You are a magnificent person and I never want you to forget that.
I have spent several weeks researching and trying to figure out what I really wanted to say in this note to you. This morning after great thought I decided to give my opinion. People who know me know I love science, facts, research, and truth, but I also sometimes have an opinion that may go against our medical establishment. It is not that I am trying to be difficult acting, but my heart hurts for the suffering that is going on with our U.S. population which includes ourselves, our families, friends, and others. It is too much and needs to change.
Having the opportunity to work with thousands of cancer patients and their families has brought me so much education that is not always taught in medical school. It is true that the real teachings is in the experience and not always in the book work.
First, let me define what World Lung Cancer Day is.
The American College of Chest Physicians state, “World Lung Cancer Day is a great opportunity for us all to raise awareness about lung cancer, highlighting the key risk factors as well as screening and treatment options.”
The Prevent Cancer Foundation states their mission is, “The mission of the Prevent Cancer Foundation is saving lives across all populations through cancer prevention and early detection.”
Due to my limited space to write, this is only two organization’s words but all of them state about the same.
I went through looking for all their ideas of risk factors. They all stated that smoking, exposure to radon gas, air pollution, and second-hand smoke are the risk factors.
The most thorough organization was the American Cancer Society. Their risk factors included, cigarette smoking, cigar and pipe smoking is an increased risk, occupational and environmental exposure to second-hand smoke, radon, asbestos (particularly among smokers), certain metals such as chromium, cadmium, arsenic, some organic chemicals, radiation, air pollution, and a history of tuberculosis. They also stated, “Genetic susceptibility plays a contributing role in the development of lung cancer, especially in those who develop the disease at a younger age.”
It is wonderful that World Lung Cancer Day is to try to get the awareness out to the public. We as a nation need more education on the subject of all cancers. My problem is that it takes more than saying what the plan or the goal is. Where are the actions? Most people in today’s world know all the risk factors that were just stated. They may know the “why” it is a risk.
Of all the risk factors that I could find described, none included our food. None talked about the extra hormones and antibiotics given to the animals we eat which we ingest second hand. Have you not thought about why little girls are starting their periods now at the age of 7, 8 and 9 years old instead of what used to be the average age of 13? Ask any GYN physician and they will tell you this is what they are now seeing. I believe that most of the breast cancers and prostate cancers are possibly due to too many hormones in the meats. You can not play with the hormones and expect to stay healthy.
In order to keep the animals healthy with all the hormones given, they need to include more antibiotics. This too is what we consume more of and then makes us become antibiotic-resistant. We have more “Super Bugs” in the US than ever and antibiotics are not working.
What is actually being done to help find the cure for cancer? There is more money donated every year to cancer research but where is it really going? We are so advanced in technology now. We can speak and view someone on the other side of the world in less than 2 seconds with a very small cell phone. We have been to the moon. I just heard the other day that China is getting ready to launch its astronauts to Mars. Why can’t they do better with our medicine! Why aren’t we more advanced in treating cancer? Do you realize we our US medical system is no further along in finding the cure or the help needed than we were 60 years ago. We have great machines, microscopes, x-ray technology, ways of diagnosing cancer, but we are still not winning the war on cancer.
I feel we need to not only get the awareness out to the public, but there needs to be more findings on how to start ridding our country of the risk factors that include the unclean food that is harming us. It is proven that GMO foods are not the same as the foods we ate years ago. It is not normal to take the seed from food, plant it, and it will not grow and produce the food again. Try it yourself. It is not normal to be eating food such as seedless watermelons. Seeds are supposed to be the beginning of producing more food.
With all the money donated, the brilliance of scientist and researchers, and the medical equipment to work with, it is my opinion that the US medical society should be further advanced than we are.
Somehow we must rise up from this problem and not stay stuck in the War Against Cancer. We have to win. It is my opinion that we the people of the United States need to wake up. We need to try to educate ourselves to the new possibilities of winning and finding ways to have research working for the cure, no longer just to have research that is not going anywhere. The human body is amazing. We at New Hope Unlimited have seen the results to prove it and I think this is why I get so upset that the US seems to be behind. The pharmaceutical companies need to let go of our lives. We need them in order to get our medications, but they have a hold on the cancer patients and it is proven they charge exuberant money that is making them and the shareholders huge profits. Human lives are precious and everyone needs a chance to live the life they desire.
