Our Cars, Our Body

Our Cars, Our Body
My father always taught us kids that you must get regular oil changes and car tune ups in order to preserve the life of a car. Dad, you would be proud of me.

Have you ever really taken the time to think about the difference in how you treat yourself versus the way you treat your car? I know, I know, a car is a big investment. Well, did you know that most people take better care of their car than themselves? It’s true. And I must add, your body wins the “biggest investment of all” contest!

Most of us take better care of our cars than we take care of our bodies. We get regular oil changes and tune ups for the car but how often do we go for a regular physical for our body? How often do we take a couple of days off or vacation in order to change our oil?

We are taught to watch the condition of our tires so we won’t experience a blow out on the road. We need to rotate the tires every certain mileage we travel. How often do we go to the dentist to get our teeth cleaned and checked so we do not need to experience a tooth blow out? Or should I say a cavity, root canal or extraction. How often do we go to the chiropractor for a spinal adjustment?

Heaven forbid that the timing belt goes out on the car, so our car maintenance person tells us when we are due for a $600.00 new timing belt. When was the last time you got a Pap smear or PSA. Have you had a colonoscopy or mammogram? These simple exams can help prevent cancer or catch cancer in an early stage.
Most people keep their cars washed and cleaned. Some have the car engine cleaned. Some people get their car radiator flushed. When was the last time you did a simple detox to help clean your system? When did you decide not to eat that piece of chocolate cake or fast for a day? Have you ever had an enema just to try to rid yourself of unwanted garbage?

We all need to keep the windshield clean so we can see as we drive. When was the last time you had your eyes checked? Glasses or contact lens help you better see the wonderful world in where you live.

I know this has been a lot of questions but the truth is, do we take better care of our cars than we do ourselves? No matter what the answer is, the next question is , Why?
