What, Water?

  1. Are you trying to lose weight? Well, water revs up the metabolism and helps you feel full, helping you to lose that weight. Try drinking water instead of all that calorie-filled soda and other beverages. Try drinking a glass of water before meals to help fill you up so that you eat less. The body has to work to warm the water up and will be burning a few extra calories in the process.
  2. If your energy isn’t what it should be, get a pick-me-up with water. If you feel tired, dehydration may be the culprit. Water helps your heart pump your blood more effectively and help your blood transport oxygen and nutrients to your cells.
  3. Did you know that about 70-80% of your brain tissue is water? When you are dehydrated, your body and mind are stressed. Keep a glass of water at your desk or carry a sport bottle to help keep stress levels down.
  4. Muscle tone is built with drinking water and prevents muscle cramping, because it lubricates the joints in the body.
  5. When you are dehydrated, fine lines and wrinkles are deeper. Drinking water is nature’s own beauty cream as it hydrates skin cells and plumps them up making you look younger. It also flushes out impurities and improves circulation.
  6. Fiber is important for good digestion and dissolving waste particles, but staying regular with water consumption is important as well. Waste will move smoothly through your digestive tract by drinking water. Your colon is left dry and making it more difficult to pass waste when you are dehydrated.
  7. You’ve always heard about the pain involved in kidney stones. If people and children are not drinking enough water, they might end up with kidney stones. Salts and Minerals in your urine that form the solid crystals (kidney stones), are diluted by drinking water. These stones cannot form in diluted urine, so reduce your risk with plenty of water. What, Water? Image

It is believed that healthy adults usually get enough to drink by letting their thirst guide them, but the exact amount that you need depends on your size, level of activity, the weather and your general health. If you exercise routinely or sweat heavily, you most likely will need more water every day. Keep yourself happy and healthy by drinking what’s most important to you…..water!
