Refreshing Rosemary Oil

Rosemary oil is extracted from Rosmarinus officinalis, which is known widely in the Mediterranean region for its culinary and herbal benefits and used extensively for a wealth of health and wellness purposes. It looks like lavender and is related to mint. The rosemary leaves are like flat pine needles touched with silver. There is a woodsy citrus-like fragrance that is now a popular feature in many kitchens, gardens and apothecaries worldwide.

The Egyptians, Hebrews, Greek and Romans considered the Rosemary sacred and used it to ward off evil spirits and protect against the plague. The oil is clear and has a refreshing herbal smell. Rosemary has an entire body-strengthening ability such as healing of sensitive organs like the liver, heart and brain.

Rosemary itself has many valuable uses. It can be used fresh as oil on your salads as a dressing, or add an entire sprig to your soups for a unique flavor.

Many of the health concerns that rosemary oil covers are:

  • Clarity – by adding a drop to your hands, rub them together and cup over your mouth and nose for a minute.
  • Cough – Try massaging 1 to 2 drops over your chest & throat every few hours.
  • Headaches – Cup a drop over your mouth and nose with your hand for a minute, or apply a drop topically to the aching parts of your head.
  • Learning and memory – Inhale directly from the bottle, rub over your temples, apply to your toes regularly or diffuse oil throughout the room.
  • Vaginal infection – Try massaging 1 to 2 drops in or around the vagina, making sure to test for sensitivity before attempting internal use.

Shampoos and lotions contain both Rosemary oil and teas. Using the oil regularly helps to stimulate follicles, helping with long, strong hair growth. Remove dandruff and nourish your scalp by massaging the oil into your scalp.

Using Rosemary oil on your pets can help as a hair growth stimulant and will help produce a shiny coat for your pet. Try using the essential oil as a disinfectant and as a mouthwash to help remove bad breath.
