Emotion Freedom Technique

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or Tapping) is a fast, easy and effective way to reduce anxiety, clear emotional blocks and become more peaceful and focused in all areas of your life. It has been indicated through studies over twenty years ago that acute or chronic psychological stress can lead to DNA damage. Dr. Douglas Brodie, creator of the “Cancer Personality Profile” and a pioneer in the field of psycho-oncology, believes that cancer is most often created shortly after a traumatic event. Some instances might be death of a loved one, natural disaster or witnessing an act of violence. These can short circuit specific areas in the brain that can affect a particular organ.

EFT is a technique based on the foundation that good health relies on the proper energy flow throughout the body. EFT was originally created by Stanford trained engineer and self-improvement coach Gary Craig and utilized the same energy-meridian system that traditional Chinese acupuncture uses-minus the needles. To use EFT you lightly tap on specific points on your body between your chest and the top of your head (8 or 9 times). While tapping you need to vocalize the negative issue at hand and then vocalize a more positive perception of the issue.

The EFT Tapping has shown to significantly decrease conditions as:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • PTSD/Trauma
  • Food Cravings
  • Addictions
  • Phobias
  • Test and Public Speaking Anxiety
  • Physical Pain

EFT may also be a way to “supercharge” deep emotional healing because it reprograms negative belief patterns to more life-affirming ones. Many of these were originally formed in childhood and can be reprogrammed. These beliefs can and do contribute to the development of diseases like cancer, as we age.

Meridian Tapping is gaining ground as a legitimate practice for stress reduction. In one journal article published, they claimed there are clear indications that Emotional Freedom Technique may soon meet the criteria for evidence-based treatment for certain conditions, which include PTSD. Major forms of depression are soon expected to be the second leading disease burden worldwide. Students receiving EFT training showed a marked reduction in their depression symptoms 3 weeks after receiving EFT training. A recent study found that close to 1 in 4 newly diagnosed breast cancer patients experienced some form of PTSD.

Veterans were exposed to a 6 hour long EFT training session and after one month to six weeks, the veterans displayed significantly reduced psychological stress. New evidence is coming out that proves EFT’s effectiveness on physical symptoms and pain. The latest study was published in April of 2015. Many alternative health leaders have come out strongly in support of EFT. EFT Tapping may be a strong ally on the road to vibrant and cancer-free living.
